Anna Belknap, who's been part of a mystery-solving ensemble on TV in each of the past two seasons, will make it three when she joins the cast of "CSI: NY" next week.

The actress, who co-starred in NBC's "Medical Investigation" last year, will make her first appearance on the CBS series Wednesday (Oct. 12). She'll play Lindsay Monroe, whom CBS describes as "a young, athletic and eager to please CSI" who recently moved to New York from Montana.

She gets thrown into the fire quickly, going through rookie training with Mac (Gary Sinise) while working a case. She maintains an upbeat attitude despite harboring the de rigeur TV-cop secret that motivated her to become a crime-scene investigator in the first place.

Belknap's appearance coincides with the departure of Vanessa Ferlito, whose last episode as a regular member of the cast aired this week.

Prior to "Medical Investigation," Belknap was a regular on the CBS show "The Handler" -- which also starred her "CSI: NY" castmate Hill Harper -- in 2003. Her other credits include the short-lived NBC series "Deadline" and guest spots on "The Comeback," "Law & Order: SVU" and "Without a Trace."
